Our Best Friend
Death Is Nothing At All | Left Behind | In Memory Of You | After The Funeral | Letter From Heaven | A year has gone by....

'Our Best Friend' has been put together as a tribute to our dear Mum, ELIZABETH COLLINGWOOD, who passed away on the 13th March 2001.... at the young age of 62 years. Rest in peace Mum, we love you.

The picture below is of Mum and our Dad Eric, on their Ruby wedding anniversary on 13th October 1996. This year they would have celebrated 45 lovely years together...

Elizabeth will be remembered not just as a caring, loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandma, Aunt and friend, but as much, much more....

A "good person", she showed strong values but was able to appreciate other people's points of view.

She was a "teacher" and "advisor".

Always helpful, selfless - she gave of herself and was always there for others in need of help.

She was good company and found humour in even the most difficult of times and situations.

A constant source of cooking tips, general advice and good humour.

A good moral "sounding board"

Gave endless love to her family and friends.

Given the choice between the "right way" and the "easy way", she always chose the "right way".

But perhaps MOST of all, we'd like to say thank you to her for being.....

"OUR BEST FRIEND"

Mum suffered a massive brain haemorrhage around 10.30pm on Sunday the 11th March 2001, up until that moment she had been a fit and well person.

She had been a blood donor for most of her life, and she made it clear that when she died, that her organs were to be used to help save the lives of other people.

At this moment in time, we know of three people that she has managed to help, and our good wishes go to those people and we hope that they can make a full recovery.

If anyone would like to talk to me on the subject of organ donation, please feel free to email me, click the link below.
I'm NOT an expert on this subject, but with my Dad's blessing, and the help of my brother, we carried out Mum's wishes. Difficult though it seemed at the time, it was a comfort knowing that Mum was about to help someone enjoy a better quality of life.
I, my husband and three of our four children all wish to donate organs, the fourth one is a little young at four years old to decide upon that for herself yet.
